An Update On How We Are Helping Canadians During COVID-19

Hello everyone,

As the nation’s largest frozen food retailer, providing meals to Canadians is what we do best and as we navigate this challenging time, we are especially focused on delivering what people have come to expect from us.

While most Canadians stay home and do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19, countless others are working hard to protect our health and feed communities. We often use the word “heroic” to describe their efforts and from everything I’ve seen and the stories I’ve heard, that’s a fitting way to describe what’s happening. There’s a lot for us to admire but this is also a time of great need among frontline workers and in communities where resources are stretched thin. With these facts in mind, M&M Food Market has committed to the following:

Support for Healthcare Professionals

The need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) remains very high and our team has sourced 25,000 face masks that will be donated to medical teams who need them most. Additionally, we understand hospital foundations have created programs that deliver the help and nutrition needed to continue the fight. To that end, we’ll be connecting with these groups for the distribution of M&M Food Market gift cards to be used by healthcare professionals when they can pause and share a meal with family. The bravery and commitment of doctors, nurses and other medical staff is inspiring and we’re hopeful these expressions of gratitude make their lives safer and a little easier.

Supporting our Communities

People in communities across the country have come to rely on M&M Food Market for four decades and many of our Franchise Partners continue to go above and beyond by giving back to their communities through donations to local charities and food banks. Yet, food insecurity remains a major challenge. That’s why we have formed a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada to help provide meals to kids who are impacted by food scarcity. We are also teaming up with HelpAge Canada to reach seniors and put food on the tables of those who might otherwise go without. These impressive organizations have dedicated their efforts to addressing food shortages in cities and towns across the country. We are proud to be working with them and with our help, thousands upon thousands of meals will reach seniors and families with kids in the coming weeks.

Now is not a time for heroes to go without the equipment they need to keep us safe. It’s also not a time for seniors or children and their families to go hungry. Our team and our Franchise Partners across Canada have a history of working together and supporting those in need. While it’s very difficult to know what the coming weeks and months will look like, we will continue facing these challenges head-on.

We’ll get through this together. Please keep well and stay safe.
